UPDATE: Service disruption to Swanston Street trams

The disruption to Swanston Street trams has been
extended by one day to better manage traffic flow during
a major international event.
Regular service to Swanston Street trams returns
from first tram Tuesday 17 September.

Reason for service changes
We’re renewing overhead lines at Swanston Street and upgrading the network at the Swanston and Victoria streets precinct.
Tram service changes
No trams run in Swanston Street between Stop 3 Lincoln Square
and Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station.
Route 1 trams run in sections between:
- East Coburg and Stop 3 Lincoln Square
- South Melbourne and Stop 14 Arts Precinct
No Route 1 trams run between Stop 3 Lincoln Square and Stop 14 Arts Precinct.
Route 3 trams run a shortened service between East Malvern
and Stop 14 Arts Precinct.
Route 5, 16 and 72 trams run a shortened service between the south eastern suburbs and Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station.
Route 6 trams run in sections between:
- Moreland and Stop 3 Lincoln Square
- Glen Iris and Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station
No Route 6 trams run between Stop 3 Lincoln Square
and Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station.
Route 64 trams run a shortened service between East Brighton
and Stop 14 Arts Precinct.
Route 67 trams run between Carnegie and Stop 7 Flagstaff Station
diverting via William Street from Stop 20 Anzac Station.
Tram stop changes
The following tram stops are closed during works:
- Stop 4 Queensberry Street
- Stop 7 RMIT University
- Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station (towards South Melbourne / St Kilda)
Alternative travel options
Passengers can walk up to 13min / 850m along the work zone between
Stop 3 Lincoln Square and Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station to connect between tram services.
Route 5, 6, 16 and 72 trams between Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station and
Stop 14 Arts Precinct.
Route 19 trams along Elizabeth Street between Flinders Street Station and Stop 12 Morrah Street for Melbourne University.
City loop trains between Flinders Street Station and Melbourne Central Station

An accessible courtesy vehicle runs between Melbourne Central and
Lincoln Square, every 30 minutes
The accessible courtesy vehicle will provide a connection between:
- Little Lonsdale Street (outside MOAT Restaurant) a 75m walk from
Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station. - Corner of Swanston Street and Lincoln Square South Street.
And return to Little Lonsdale Street via Elizabeth Street.
